Lærdal Tunnel to be Renovated

The Lærdal tunnel is the world’s longest road tunnel and runs for 24,5 km.

Planning a trip to the Sognefjord area in 2025 or later? Please be aware of the night closure of the Lærdal tunnel.

The tunnel work is scheduled to begin in august 2025, when the tunnel will be closed from 18:00 - 06:00 every night.

The Lærdal Tunnel connects Lærdal with Aurland and is an important link on the E16 motorway between Oslo and Bergen.

If you are planning to travel the main road between Lindstrøm Hotel in Lærdal and Bergen, you will need to go through this tunnel. See map below.
